Welcome to the KiwiNFT interview, our new special column where we showcase both emerging and established artists. Today we have a very special guest, a great Afrofuturist Artist and Co-founder of the African NFT Community. Ladies and gentlemens, greeds The DarkMythst.
The DarkMythst (Kwame Michael) is an AfroCosmic pioneer, an Afrofuturist creator piecing fragmented thoughts and visions. Creator of the collection about the mystical journeyer who goes into the world unseen by others then returns to tell 'them' of it through art.
In this interview, he shares how and why he got in NFTs, where he finds inspirations for doing art, his impressions of the NFT space and its future, and many other interesting things.
I was introduced to NFT's by a good friend back in February. He had me sign up to Clubhouse to listen about NFTs and from there, it sparked an interest.
2. Why did you decide to join the NFT party?
The artist's freedom to 'cut the middle man out'. As an artist, we are paid for our services in the industry for what others direct. With NFT's this is an opportunity to show off your work and monetize off of your own value.
3. What is inspiring you?
What inspires me is overlooked. Things like nature's details at a macro level, and the unseen eye.
4. What is the major difference between CryptoArt and all the other art?
Cryptoart is digital. It can be traded, sold, and even used as a utility in things like gaming or the metaverse.
5. What makes an artist successful in the CryptoArt scene?
Persistence and effort. Finding your own style and 'tribe' where you can work together as a community to uplift each other.
6. Who are your favorite artists in the NFT space?
I believe NFTs will go beyond simple collection. There will be world created NFTs, wearables, and fashion, and an incredible art gallery showcasing, both physical and virtual.
8. Give please one piece of advice for artists who are only starting with NFTs?
Create and expand your craft while learning the NFT space. Do not fall in for the FOMO "fear of losing out", and produce quality work. It will take collectors time to find you, in the meantime, prepare your portfolio.
9. Where can collectors buy your work or know more about it?
Collectors can see both sold and available artwork at https://showtime.io/darkmythst I am active in both Opensea, Rarible and Foundation as DarkMythst
